Great Himalayas

Who in the world doesn't know Mount Everest? Who is Nepal doesn't know about Sagarmatha?

Call it Mount Everest (after Sir George Everest, who led the team of Great Trigonometrical Survey while he didn't even reach the 8848 m high summit)

or call it Sagarmatha (named by renowned historian Itihasa Siromani Baburam Acharya as the head of the sky)

or call it Chomolungma (or variant pronunciation as Jhomolungma)

or The Third Pole

the peak stands one of the greatest natural wonders. AND the people who live at such great altitude would certainly not be the same as from the lowlands.

This is where, then, the world acknowledges the lifestyle of the Himalayan community. The Sherpa community best exemplifies the Himalayan culture.

Ever since the eyes of the world fell in mountaineering after the successful ascent of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norge, the culture of the Sherpas became a subject of interest for scholars.
